Henderson County Education Advocacy Team Action Groups
These are community groups, and all are invited to join!
- Colonels 2 College: The Colonels 2 College scholarship program will offer every Henderson County High School student, beginning with the class of 2013, the opportunity to earn up to $1,000 per year to attend Henderson Community College. - Instructional Support: This group would like to provide more technological tools for each classroom. April 27 notes
- Academic Emphasis: This group is partnering with the Henderson Henderson-County Chamber of Commerce Inside Henderson program to provide a leadership program for gifted middle-school-aged students. The first group of middle school students participated in October 2009.

- Parent Involvement: This group has surveyed teachers concerning parental involvement and is considering using home visits and planners coutny-wide as strategies for encouraging greater parental involvement. April 27 notes; May 4 notes; August 10 notes
- Mentoring/Tutoring: April 27 notes, photo
- Expectations: The Expectations group is interested in developing a program to raise graduation rates. April 28th notes; June 9 notes
- Early Childhood Education and Literacy: This group is partnering with Henderson County Schools to expand Niagara Elementary's Baby Backpack program throughout Henderson County by January 1, 2010. The group is also interested in establishing a parenting class designed to give new moms and dads tips and strategies for getting their babies off to the best possible start in life. The curriculum would include information on everything from nutrition to available social services to the importance of pre-K educational preparedness.next meeting: April 29 notes
